Topeka Metro is accepting applications for a full-time Facilities Custodian for our Quincy Street Station transfer center. This position is responsible for the cleanliness of the facility’s offices, lobby, breakroom, restrooms, and outdoor grounds. Some of the duties include emptying trash cans, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, wiping down benches, mowing, and snow shoveling.
Knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment, and methods.
Ability to read and follow label directions on cleaning products.
Ability to work outdoors in all inclement weather conditions.
Physical ability to complete duties that require pushing/pulling, bending, lifting, kneeling, and overhead reaching.
Must be able to perform daily assigned tasks independently without close supervision.
Ability to complete work within the scope of proper time standards.
Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and members of the public.
Previous custodial experience preferred.
18 years of age with a HS diploma/GED.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
The shift for this position is Monday 6:00 am – 2:00 pm and Tuesday-Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Applicants must satisfactorily pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and post offer functional employment test.
This position pays $13.60/hr. Topeka Metro is a KPERS employer and offers a great benefit package.
