Sodexo’s School Division_ is seeking a General Manager for Holyoke Public Schools in Holyoke, Massachusetts. This Manager will be responsible for the food service programs for 24 sites including elementary, middle, high school, and charter schools. Holyoke is in service 52 weeks per year with National School Lunch and Breakfast programs, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, CACFP (Dinner, Breakfast, Lunch, and snack), Summer lunch and breakfast feeding, A la carte, Special Functions catering, and additional Pre-school and parochial schools. This client union account has $4.2 million in managed revenue and a student enrollment of 5,300.This position will report to the District Manager and direct the on-site management team with day to day responsibilities.

Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter with stellar communication skills and the ability to effectively manage front-line production employees in a dynamic environment, and assist with client relations.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Prior Schools General Manager-level experience
  • Experience with driving revenues
  • Experience training and leading a food service team
  • Excellent client relation skills and financial acumen
  • Experience working with a diverse population

Prior experience managing a client food service team in an union environment is preferred. Customer service, excellent client relations and team building skills are a must. Account receivable and payable experience is required, along with the skill set to effectively implement all USDA training requirements. Strongly prefer a candidate with strong culinary skills and prior retail background.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.



Requirements

Basic Education Requirement – Associate’s degree, with academic major in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field

Basic Management Experience - 3 years

Basic Functional Experience - 4 years of relevant school nutrition programs experience
