Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Mental Health Counselor.

The HOPE Consortium (Hemodialysis Opioid Prescription Effort) is looking for an experienced mental health worker to serve as a study interventionist for a large federally funded study aiming to reduce pain and opioid use in patients with renal disease being treated with hemodialysis.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver multiple cohorts of a 12-week cognitive and behavioral tele-health program that will focus on reducing pain. The pain coping skills training will be delivered one-on-one using a video-based platform to Spanish- and English-speaking hemodialysis patients at various academic medical study sites across the country. The interventionist will receive specialized and manual-based training and will additionally receive ongoing weekly supervision and oversight by experts in the field of pain coping skills.
  • Responsible for maintaining study records (e.g., session notes, tracking and documenting adverse events, etc.)
  • Assist with other study-related tasks (e.g., engaging in ongoing communication with study participants to improve rapport and improve participant retention) as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Masters level mental health provider (social work, psychology, counseling), a minimum of 3 years of experience post-Masters degree, Bi-lingual (fluent in Spanish-English) required.

Experience working with chronic medical conditions is preferred.

The successful candidate will also have excellent people skills, timely documentation, ability to follow a protocol and intervention manual, and function as part of a multidisciplinary clinical and research team.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
