The Benjamin School Lead Lower/Middle School Nurse Summary of Position Summary of Position Certified and Licensed Registered Nurse directs the lower and middle school health services program and provides medical care and services to students according to physician-prescribed medical care and treatment orders using established procedures and protocols. Key Expectations of all TBS employees: Demonstrates support of the school's mission and policies Consistently models The Benjamin School values Builds positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues by establishing effective communication through listening, responsiveness, openness, availability, and approachability Takes initiative and ownership in displaying positive work ethic and behaviors and encourages this attitude in others Maintains proficiency in the field through personal and professional development that strengthens the role and the school Essential Functions Establish, review and maintain medical and health services programs for the school Provide medical care and service to students according to physician-prescribed medical care and treatment orders Create and maintain documentation of all treatment and medical services activities Maintain student immunization and other medical records Maintain early childhood medical records according to the Florida Department of Health guidelines and regulations Follow confidentiality and privacy rules and regulations Confer with students, parents, and teachers regarding medical treatment; follows confidentiality policies and regulations Coordinate with local health agencies, school's medical directors and medical treatment facilities as necessary Direct school-related health policies and procedures; COVID and contract tracing Rmanagement Serve on school's Crisis Management Team Serve on school's COVID Management Team Monitor, provide assistance/treatment, and administers insulin to diabetics, as required espond to emergency medical situations; perform first aid as needed; coordinate with local emergency personnel and agencies as required Administer the school's Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Policy and Plan; provide training and keep records as required Maintain inventory of supplies and materials needed in the clinic; develop and monitor procedures for maintaining adequate supplies in all school first aid kits Oversee clinic budget and ordering of supplies Follow the required cleaning and sanitization procedures Oversee vision and hearing screenings Oversee and provide CPR training for faculty and staff Attend overnight field trips as needed/assigned Complete all work and assigned tasks in a timely, efficient, accurate, and organized manner Perform other duties as assigned Required Skills and Abilities: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize and work independently and address several challenges simultaneously Possession of pleasant and collaborative style in the workplace including professional attitude Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment Well versed in technology, various software suites and office equipment related to the position Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree required and 3 years of experience Certified and Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) State licensing requirements must be met and maintained Physical and Work Requirements: May be exposed to adverse environmental conditions such as toxic/poisonous agents, disease or pathogenic substances Moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and that may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy (20-50 pounds) objects and materials.
