Data Scientist

Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois, seeks a Data Scientist. Duties: Developing, maintaining, and enhancing statistical and machine learning and optimization algorithms to create tools that support strategic decision making for the university. Develop hypothesis and actionable strategies from data analysis. Design, implement, and automate modeling and analysis procedures on existing and experimentally created data using open source programs, including but not limited to Python and R. Create data validation and testing scripts to identify data anomalies; create exception lists and communicate with stakeholders. Provide data perspective, input, and consultation on other architecture deliverables. Clearly communicate and coordinate with other team members to implement data validation and data transformation processes, including ongoing monitoring. Full-time position. Requirements: Master's degree in Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Technology or closely related. One year experience as a research associate, portfolio manager or related which includes use of scientific and computing packages such as R, Python or Stata, use of SQL query language to extract data for use in predictive models, use of regression or related statistical models to create predictive analytics models.
