Job Opening: City Manager of Dimmitt, Texas
City of Dimmitt (pop. 4,393) is seeking candidates for City Manager. Dimmitt is a Type A municipality that has adopted the Council Manager form of government and an operating budget of approximately $3.4 million. Dimmitt currently has 28 full time employees. The City owns and operates the municipal water and sewer system, police department, and fire department.
The governing body is looking for candidates who can showcase a history of professionalism and a strong work ethic.
Candidates will also possess excellent public relations and personnel management skills. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills with a history of sound decision-making ability. Candidates should be adept in researching and analyzing policy and grants. The desired candidate will be a community-oriented leader who takes an active involvement in the community while also promoting strong economic development initiatives and positive intergovernmental relations.
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field. Two to five years of municipal management experience is preferred or equivalent. Strong interpersonal, communication, financial planning, budgeting, economic development, grant procurement skills required. Bilingual skills desired. The Panhandle Regional Planning Commission has been contracted to assist the City with this search.
