Position Summary

The position of Foundation Accountant will support the Foundation accounting and compliance, monitoring and reporting for all the Foundation funds (300+ funds). The position’s purpose is to help reduce the Foundation’s exposure and risk of noncompliance.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Act as accounting point person for the Foundation and Accounting team, addressing questions and concerns from other departments, and provide assistance to the General Accounting Manager and Foundation staff
  • Preparation of year-end work papers for audit of the Foundation
  • Work with the external auditors during the audits, special reviews and projects
  • Prepare monthly and year-end reconciliations
  • Prepare the quarterly financial statements for the Foundation Board of Trustees, and other external reporting requirements throughout the year
  • Responsible for the Foundation accounting, including general ledger postings and review, processing of scholarships, analysis of grant projects funded by the Foundation, and reconciliation of scholarships and gift balances for Foundation and Financial Aid staff
  • Preparation with year-end schedules, preparation of donor year-end reports, reconciliation, and other Foundation requests
  • Ensure compliance with scholarship and grant spending
  • Aid with annual record retention process
  • Research and study accounting changes related to GAAPGASBFASB and ORC rules and regulations, contract terms, and college policies and procedures


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years highly relevant work experience required
  • Foundation accounting experience preferred
  • Professional oral and written communication skills required
  • Significant understanding of GAAP required
  • Prior work experience with an ERP system preferred
  • Extensive experience and proficiency with Excel including pivot tables, Word and Microsoft Outlook required
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational, and customer service skills required
  • Ability to work independently
  • Prior work experience in Ellucian Colleague preferred
