The City of Dubuque, Iowa invites applications for the position of Lead Paint / Healthy Homes Inspector.

This is a limited term position with a duration of 3 years.  The successful candidate will be responsible for performing field inspections for the City’s Lead and Healthy Homes Program; inspecting property to ensure compliance with contract agreements and government regulations; providing oversight and guidance to local contractors in lead-safe hazard reduction techniques and practices in support of the City’s housing improvement programs; utilizing Microsoft Office applications and other platforms to prepare reports and related documentation. 

Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental and/or health sciences, business, construction or related field; experience working with a diverse workforce and population; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the essential knowledge, skills and abilities. Training and/or experience in housing construction, housing code enforcement and housing-related health and sanitation code enforcement is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to follow a management philosophy that is input oriented and values equity, problem solving and the development of partnerships; and a desire to be part of an organization that values service, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork. 

The City offers an annual salary range of $48,131 to $62,857, and an attractive benefits package which includes twelve weeks of paid parental leave.
