Job Opening: City Manager of Tulia, Texas

City of Tulia (population 4,967) is seeking candidates for City Manager. The City is home-rule with a budget of 7.2 million and 39 full-time employees. City operations include water system, sewer system, electrical distribution, and landfill.

The Tulia City Council is seeking candidates with knowledge and proven experience in areas of economic development, finance and budgeting, and policy management. Candidates should have demonstrated leadership abilities, organizational and listening skills; excellent written and oral communicator with the ability to inspire and empower staff. Candidates who lead with integrity, have a community focus and demonstrate the ability to creatively problem solve will be essential.

This position will also serve as the Director of Economic Development Corporation. Two to five years of municipal management experience is preferred or equivalent. Degree in public administration or equivalent experience desired. Strong interpersonal, communication, financial planning, budgeting, economic development, grant procurement, and technology skills required. The Panhandle Regional Planning Commission has been contracted to assist the City with this search.
