Apple is looking for an enthusiastic optical engineer to develop and enable future products.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong geometrical optics foundation (e.g. can perform a ray trace)
  • Proficiency in a lens design software (ex: Zemax, Code V, etc.)
  • Proficiency in a programming language (ex: ZPL, Matlab, C#, etc.)
  • Experience in validation and testing of optical components


The ideal candidate will have experience in the development of optics with an emphasis on novel and outstanding applications. The team features a collaborative, inclusive, and hands-on environment that cultivates creativity and innovation in the interdisciplinary areas of optical design, metrology, device fabrication, display technologies, image processing, and color and vision sciences.

Education & Experience

- M.S. or Ph.D. in optical engineering, vision science, electrical engineering, or a related field - Or B.S. with 3+ years proven experience

Additional Requirements

  • BONUS POINTS FOR (but not required):
  • - Experience in the identification and/or development of novel figures of merit
  • - Experience in developing optical testing methods and instrumentation
  • - Proven understanding of optics manufacturing methods (e.g. casting, injection molding, free-form surface generation, diamond turning, dip coating, physical vapor deposition, etc.)
