BMC seeks an experienced Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) professional to perform companywide EHS compliance audits and assist in the development and implementation of corporate –wide EHS&S systems.   Critical to the success of this position is a proven track record of EHS&S expertise, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

This position will audit BMC facilities throughout the United States and Canada for compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and Corporate EHS&S rules, legislation, and regulations and continually assess areas for evolving the audit function. 

The position will also provide organization wide coordination in all environmental areas including air, water and waste management, as well as assisting in compliance strategies for these programs.  


Independently perform EHS&S compliance audits at manufacturing and distribution locations within the US and Canada.

Prepare and present compliance findings and recommendations verbally and in writing through high-quality reports that are insightful, accurate, concise, and are delivered on a timely basis.

Review current audit universe within BMC and recommend ways to build upon it going forward.

Assess environmental risks and opportunities and potential impacts on stakeholder priorities or business strategy. Develop workable strategies to mitigate/eliminate compliance risks and provide recommendations to Director and/or business partners as required.

Assist with the preparation of environmental reports and ongoing maintenance of environmental licenses and permits, providing review and feedback regarding non-routine environmental reporting and communications. Understand and communicate environmental permit requirements and data generated to prepare permits.

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of environmental regulations and provide interpretation to facilities as necessary. Keep up-to-date on new and emerging regulations and direction on environmental issues of interest to Benjamin Moore (US, Canada and international requirements). Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues.

Ensure compliance with regulations and permits relating to hazardous material transportation (DOT, IATA, and IMDG.) Supports all facilities with the implementation of the HAZMAT corporate standard.

Track relevant regulation in the US and Canada for impact on company operations and develop/update current audit and compliance EHS&S systems to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS&S rules, legislation, and regulations.

Provide guidance and training on all EHS&S current and updated standards and permit compliance requirements to EHS&S Operations for manufacturing, logistics, and R&D.

Assists in the continuing development and execution of the companywide audit and compliance EHS&S systems.

Support EHS&S Operations with other auditing and compliance functions and duties.

Work with manufacturing, distribution, administrative, and product development groups to develop and implement EH&S systems.

Perform analysis, root cause analysis, and determine corrective actions to determine adverse events or trends within the audit and compliance EHS&S systems.

Participate in BMC continuous improvement team to help identify and capitalize on EHS&S/BMC efficiency opportunities.

Support the Corporate sustainability strategy, goals, and metrics, in conjunction with external experts and relevant cross-functional teams (i.e. corporate, engineering) at all facilities.

Act as a change champion and uses effective change management tools and techniques to innovate and gain adoption and support from the organization for audit findings, change requirements, and sustainability requirements.

Travel at least 50% of the time to locations within the US and Canada.

Requirements and Qualifications:

·       Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in an EHS related field. 

·       Minimum 3 years of EHS auditing experience.

·       Five (5) years’ experience managing environmental, occupational health, and safety programs within a manufacturing environment.

·       Strong knowledge of Federal and State regulations including OSHA, NFPA, ASTM, and EPA required.

·       Strong analytical skills

·       Strong technical writing and computer literacy are required.

·       Strong interpersonal, presentation, and verbal communication skills are required.

·       Knowledge of paint or chemical manufacturing is desirable.
