Art Director


Gannett/USA TODAY NETWORK is looking for a well-rounded and passionate Art Director to join the Brand and Network Marketing team. As a key creative contributor to marketing and brand initiatives, this innovative individual will be tasked with bringing our brand to life for our national, niche and local consumer brands as part of an in-house creative agency.


All candidates must include a portfolio to be considered.


Your Responsibilities:

Concept, brainstorm and strategize with creative partners to develop strong integrated campaigns and brand work across multiple platforms including display, social media, print and video

Create, maintain and lead an on-brand visual style and tone across various verticals at a high-quality standard with attention to detail

  • Act as a brand-steward, upholding brand standards and consistency throughout projects

  • Coordinate junior creative staff to execute on campaign/project goals

Contribute to a creative team culture of conceptual curiosity and innovation, by staying abreast of social and cultural trends to inspire creative solutions

Successfully communicate, present and pitch creative ideas and the strategic rationale behind them

Manage time and juggle multiple projects while staying self-motivated and well organized


Key Qualifications:

3-5 years in a Design role as part of creative team

1-3 years in an Art Director role, advertising/marketing experience a must and agency background a strong plus

Bachelors Degree in Communication Design, Advertising Design, Graphic Design or equivalent

Full knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

Impeccable attention to detail, ability to multitask andpassion for visual execution is a must

Experience solving for range of creative briefs brand, awareness, acquisition and retention

Exceptional portfolio showcasing workacross all platforms (i.e. digital, print, OOH, email, social)

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with ability to present work and communicate effectively

All-around team player who is a self-motivated problem solver

A positive attitude and the ability to reframe challenges as opportunities

Be able to thrive in a creative and fast-paced environment, with people who are passionate about their work

Ability to work on-site at our NYC office
