A visual journalist will work alongside our veteran staff photographer to help with our daily coverage and create a pipeline for up-and-coming talent. The paid photography intern will receive regular assignment work that will highlight stories online and in print, helping them build a portfolio for future employment. The right candidate will be able to shoot photo and video on assignments and file remotely.
Our internships are typically 13 weeks. For the right candidate, we can be flexible with the start time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
College junior or above; recent graduates also eligible. Previous newspaper experience preferred; valid drivers license required.
SKILLS:
Must be technically proficient with digital workflow and remote photo transmission. Some Nikon gear provided (digital bodies, long pool lenses, etc.) along with laptop.
Candidates should have video/multimedia experience. We have video equipment with wireless audio, a 360-degree camera, Adobe Premiere editing software and other tools. But we also love using smartphones to create quick-hit videos during daily assignments.
