The Bucks County Courier Times is looking for a senior reporter to join the team! The person in this position will assist with daily Newsroom operations that promote the assurance of engaging and sophisticated content, efficient use of resources while covering news events as assigned and on a news beat. The person hired for this position will work with and under the direction of the Editor; to enhance the journalism to increase and augment readership. Promote and uphold company policies and standards.
This position is an essential part of the newsroom department. This position generates breaking news and reports on daily events to post online and publish in print. Responsible for reporting and writing accurately for style, grammar, spelling, meaning, length and completeness on deadline. Position also requires multi-media work for online and photos for print.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
A degree in journalism and 3 years of experience working in or overseeing various components of a deadline-oriented news product
Previous daily newspaper experience preferred.
Strong writing, communication and editing skills.
Superior knowledge of the English language. Must be knowledgeable of AP Style.
Knowledge of libel laws.
Working knowledge of social media platforms for news
Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Excellent customer service & conflict resolution skills are necessary.
Strong computer and technology proficiency including Microsoft Office, Twitter, Facebook, InCopy, InDesign and photography
Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.
Must have reliable transportation with a valid drivers license and appropriate proof of insurance.
Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
