Key Qualifications

Description

We architect the platforms that underpin Apple's services and build tools that help engineers design and test every product. As a member of the Systems Architecture team within Apple Cloud Infrastructure, the Systems Software Engineer for OS/Virtualization is responsible for designing and building core operating systems components and virtualization technology that make up the building blocks of infrastructure. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: - Design, implement, and debug core virtualization components focused on optimized performance, security, and isolation, leveraging hardware assistance - Apply deep expertise in operating systems to deliver new features, enhance stability, and track down critical bugs - Adapt and build on cloud technologies and industry best practices to solve challenges unique to Apple workloads - Research new technologies and implement software components to leverage and evaluate a variety of hardware architectures to meet scalability, security, and performance goals - Work with a wide range of software and hardware engineering teams across the company to apply their technology in our platforms

Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent related experience. Advanced Degree preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • EXPERIENCE IN THE BELOW IS A PLUS:
  • - Go (golang), Python
  • - Building out the Linux kernel
  • - Virtualization technologies: KVM, Virtio, Firecracker
  • - Hardware virtualization and security features SGX, ARM
  • - Cloud technologies: Kubernetes, Docker, Open vSwitch
  • - Measuring, analyzing, and optimizing performance
