Provides relief nursing logistics support in a secondary job capacity, 12 hours per week. Coordinates patient throughput within the organization, focusing on maximizing efficiency, teamwork and interdisciplinary communication. The job duties affect staff members who provide direct patient care as well as the patients themselves. Collaborates with community partners to receive patients who will be direct admissions to the organization. Observes, monitors, and controls admission/patient flow from the ED, PACU, and outside facilities/offices. Uses metrics and real time data to assess for barriers to patient flow and proactively attempts to resolve issues. This individual will provide indirect patient care, but will have direct patient care contact during patient evaluations. This individual may have to rotate various shifts within a 24 hours period, the likelihood being that shifts will be from 9a-9p. Weekend rotations are required to ensure the departmental needs are met to have coverage seven days a week.

- Directs hospital throughput and operations on assigned shifts by maintaining effective working relationships with and between departments.
- Utilizes the electronic medical record to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information needed to identify each patient's care requirements needed for assigning the unit of care. In person evaluation of patients for unit appropriateness, when needed.
- Collects and analyzes relevant throughput data; identifies barriers and makes recommendations for changes to processes, leading the implementation of necessary modifications.
- Participates in compliance and implements AAMC policies and procedures.
- Proactively intervenes to eliminate and reduce barriers to patient throughput, providing applicable coaching for staff members
- Acts as a consultant to health team members in the community to coordinate a patient admission.
- Fosters a cohesive working relationship with patient placement team and medical providers to help facilitate patient movement, relay patient concerns, and communicate pertinent clinical information
- Acts as role model to support the vision and mission of AAMC through behaviors that foster professionalism, empowerment, teamwork, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
- Serves as a liaison between patients, family, staff, and professional staff in clinical situations.
- Attends mandatory departmental meetings, pertinent hospital in-services, and continues to develop their leadership skills through continuing education.
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing; Masters-level preferred.
Preferred Experience: Critical Care or Emergency Room experience; Progressive growth into Leadership position
Required Minimum Experience: Three years of active nursing experience in acute care setting. Maintains current skills validation as required by the Department of Nursing. Demonstrates the knowledge of principles of Growth and Development over the Lifespan.
Skills & Abilities Required:
Strong proficiency working with data and in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; Proficiency in Epic.
Strong interpersonal skills required to communicate with various departments and staff members.
Required License: Registered Nurse
Required Certification: American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS (CPR)
