The Statesman is Idaho’s source of news about the community, the state and beyond.

The Idaho Statesman is looking for a video storyteller/photographer to be part of our visuals team based in beautiful Boise, Idaho.

This is an opportunity to work with an award-winning team dedicated to producing journalism that makes a difference in our community. The visual journalist will have daily assignments but will also have an opportunity to be at the heart of our bigger, high-impact digital and data visualization projects.

The videographer/photographer should come equipped with high ideals on the power of good visual journalism, an understanding of journalistic ethics and a willingness to put in the time and effort to build on the skills you bring. This position requires that you have a good understanding of the visual storytelling process and have demonstrated that through your portfolio of video stories and still photographs.

An ability to meet tight deadlines and work from the field is a must. The majority of our visual team's storytelling is done through video but strong still photography skills are also an important part of what we deliver to residents day in and day out.

The visual journalist must know how to edit with Premiere Pro and Photoshop. The employee will provide their own vehicle for transportation and must have a valid driver's license and proper insurance.

A Spanish-speaking candidate is preferred but not required. We’re looking for someone with at least five years of photojournalism experience. Boise has consistently ranked among the top places in the country to live (prepare yourself for covering development news!) due to our accessible Foothills and proximity to pristine outdoors opportunities, affordable cost of living, low crime rates, arts scene and bustling downtown.
