Director of Campus Safety and Security Student Services Division
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with Experience; Plus Excellent Benefits This position is responsible for management of all aspects of safety and security operations at Lamar State College Port Arthur. Safety and Security Operations include responding to criminal incidents, emergency medical incidents, hazardous incidents, potentially violent incidents, auto accidents, and other campus-related issues. Duties include planning, supervising, and coordinating safety and security operations; purchasing and fiscal management; developing and disseminating operating procedures; reporting on all security issues to the appropriate campus leaders; leading and participating in the provision of safety and security services such as supervising, monitoring, training and assessing the performance of security staff. A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Student Personnel Services, or other related field (significant years of law enforcement or campus safety experience, peace officer license and knowledge/skills may be considered in lieu of degree). At least 5 years of successful employment in law enforcement, campus safety and/or security fields with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory capacity. Must have a current valid driver’s license. Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to work under stress and to clearly convey thoughts and instructions to others both verbally and in writing. Ability to pass a background investigation covering employment, driving, and criminal records. Must work evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed. This position is security sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
