Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician will perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities:
Perform basic repairs to facilities and equipment as needed
Assist in facilities maintenance including basic plumbing, painting, carpentry and electrical
Operate and care for power equipment and hand tools
Observe mechanical devices while operating and determine potential concerns
Troubleshoot electrical components and repair as needed
Maintain campus lighting system including replacement of bulbs and ballasts as needed
Repair or replace defective parts as needed throughout all campus facilities
Change air filters periodically and service all air handlers as needed
Maintain service records on all equipment and repair work
Ability to move furniture between offices and buildings
Ability to assist with setups and tear downs for college events
Remove debris from campus after inclement weather

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience Requirements

Education
High School Graduate

Experience
Two plus years of experience in general maintenance
Computer Skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Certifications & Licenses
Valid North Carolina driver's license

Additional Information

Have working knowledge of common methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the carpentry, painting, electrical and mechanical trades
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to anticipate task to be performed and begin without waiting for instructions to do so
Ability to read basic electrical schematics
