The Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit, Michigan seeks applications for two full-time, 12 month tenure/tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor in the Occupational Therapy Program, Department of Health Care Sciences.
Wayne State University is classified as a Carnegie Research University and designated as a Carnegie Community Engagement university. Annual research expenditures are nearly $260 million. The Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is located on the WSU Medical School campus. In close proximity, Detroit Medical Center, Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, Karmanos Cancer Institute and other teaching hospitals providing numerous opportunities for collaboration. Wayne State also is home to the Institute of Gerontology, which fosters research, education, outreach and community partnerships relevant to aging and urban health. The Detroit/Southeast Michigan area offers a vast array of world-class restaurants, theaters and museums. The WSU campus is located in the heart of Midtown at the center of the vibrant Detroit cultural district. Detroit is a border city with Canada, which is less than a 20-minute drive from the campus.
Responsibilities: New faculty members are expected to teach courses and engage in scholarly publications and research-related activities such procuring external funding commensurate with their education, training and expertise. Participation in academic advisement, student assessment, and service responsibilities will be consistent with the requirements of a tenure-track/ tenured position.
Qualifications: We seek two new faculty members with expertise in anatomy, adult physical rehabilitation and gerontology. A Ph.D. or an equivalent and a degree in Occupational Therapy is preferred. Teaching experience at the graduate level is also preferred. Applicants must be eligible for occupational therapy licensure in Michigan.
