Description


Works with Human Resources and Management to identify training requirements and institutes plans for training new and existing employees.


Position Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Salary: $23.71/hour to Commensurate 

Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, physical examination (if applicable) and drug screen are required prior to employment with the City of Cedar Rapids.

 

Examples of Essential Duties:

  • Lead the planning, creation, and implementation of annual training plans
  • Create training schedules for all City departments, track and create reports on outcomes of all training and maintain training records 
  • Prepare and maintain training materials across a variety of platforms 
  • Markets training sessions to employees 
  • Coordinate logistics and facilitate classroom & online training sessions for new and existing employees
  • Recruit and train new trainers, delegate training tasks to the new trainers and evaluate performance
  • Observes and evaluates the results of courses to improve the effectiveness of the programs.
  • Actively seek current training methods and best practices to facilitate training employees; remain up-to-date on developments within the public sector
  • Coordinate new hire orientation
  • Support other areas of Human Resources, as needed
  • Performs related work as required

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in learning and development, human resources, education or related field and
  • One to three years of experience coordinating training or related work or 
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in learning and development, human resources, education or related field
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Experience working with training materials
