We are searching for an experienced Noncredit Basic Skills Instructor (Bilingual-English/Spanish) at our Santa Maria Campus facility. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

Noncredit Basic Skills Instructor (Bilingual-English/Spanish)

Allan Hancock College is accepting applications for noncredit part-time instructors, preferably bilingual (English/Spanish), to teach noncredit basic skills classes (reading, writing, math, and high school diploma equivalency preparation) for the Community Education department. Classes may be held in the evenings. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish) but not required. The anticipated start date is June 2021.

Community Education is looking primarily for instructors able to teach Remotely with future instructional opportunities at the Hancock campus in Santa Maria.

SALARY

Lecture Rate: $42.13 to $48.54 per hour depending upon education and experience

Applicants will be assessed on the breadth and depth of education, training, experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities. Minimum Qualifications

BASIC SKILLS - INTERDISCIPLINARY

Minimum Qualifications - A bachelor's degree in any social science, humanities, mathematics, or natural science discipline or in liberal studies, as appropriate for the course.

Criteria for Equivalency:

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline and two years of professional experience, related to the subject of the course taught. OR

  • A California teaching credential authorizing instruction in the subject area with two years of professional experience related to the area of assignment and course work in the specific subject.

    BASIC SKILLS - MATHEMATICS

    Minimum Qualifications - A bachelor's degree in mathematics.

    Criteria for Equivalency:

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline and two years of professional experience related to the subject of the course taught. OR

  • A California teaching credential authorizing instruction in the subject area with two years of professional experience related to the area of assignment and course work in the specific subject.

    BASIC SKILLS - READING/WRITING

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in English, literature, comparative literature, composition, linguistics, speech, creative writing, or journalism, OR

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline and twelve semester units of college coursework in teaching reading.

    Criteria for Equivalency:

  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline and two years of professional experience related to the subject of the course taught. OR

  • A California teaching credential authorizing instruction in the subject area with two years of professional experience related to the area of assignment and course work in the specific subject.
