JOB SUMMARY Apple's Exploratory Design group is seeking a highly technical leader with strong background in electrical or computer engineering to help lead Apple's Hardware Technologies Strategic University Engagement team. The candidate must be self-driven and have a proven track record in industry with experience in collaborative University research. Candidates must have multi-disciplinary skills with emphasis on teamwork and relationship building. Technical skills must include the ability to clearly and concisely articulate problem statements and play a key role in finding solutions.

Key Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technical experience, with experience in both industry and university research environments
  • Deep technical background (e.g. silicon chip architecture/design/verification; hardware modules/systems). Detailed first-hand experience:
  • One or more of Low power / high performance computing systems, RF, Sensors, Imaging, Analog / Analog Mixed Signal (AMS) systems is required
  • Machine learning algorithms, hardware, and data analytics is a plus
  • Able to understand systems and technologies and communicate effectively internally and externally on internal and university projects
  • Comprehend and keep pace with rapid development cycles
  • Self-motivated and dedicated with proven creative and critical thinking capabilities
  • Outstanding written and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience
  • Data driven
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to inspire team members
  • Teamwork: must understand team dynamics and respect capabilities and priorities while fostering a reciprocal environment.
  • Limited domestic and international travel required

Description

- Partner and work within multi-functional teams including silicon/module/system engineering, legal, finance, procurement, and University administration/faculty/students to deliver creative solutions/engagements - Deliver communication/presentations internally and externally, and drive the decision-making process on new initiatives - Foster tight inter-team coordination and communication and collaboration - Span many teams to drive research, educational, and support recruiting goals with key universities - Assist internal teams working on research spin-outs to support transitions to meet their POC requirements - Identify and resolve conflicts, inter-dependencies and program issues quickly and deftly - Improve the system: look for patterns, offer validated methodologies and implement change

Education & Experience

PhD, MS or BS degree in a technical discipline
