Wireless technologies have become a crucial part of all Apple devices that delight our customers. In our unit, we have the mission to research and develop wireless technology for next generation radio access networks across different layers . We are looking for a specialist and highly self-motivated communication systems engineer who has a deep understanding of wireless technology used in state of the art indoor and outdoor wireless networks. In this role you will be at the center of a cutting-edge research group responsible for creating next generation disruptive radio access technologies over the next decade. You will work on defining system level concepts, proposing and researching innovative ideas & algorithms, performing complex system simulations, defining rapid prototyping platforms to help prove your ideas and specifying RAN /CN protocols for next generation cellular systems.

Key Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of communication theory and wireless systems covering all layers from Layer 1 to Layer 3
  • Deep understanding of cellular sidelink/mesh network communication protocols
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team
  • Demonstrate innovation skills through creative and out of the box thinking
  • Good understanding of ranging and sensing technologies and its underlying mathematical concepts and theories
  • Experienced in Matlab, C/C++ for system level simulations

Description

You will research and enhance 5G wireless standard. You will research and specify architectures of next generation wireless. You will have a holistic view on technology evolvement in non cellular standards. You will underline your research through solid simulations if necessary. You will explore and define use case following Apple's vision of making the world a better world. Participate in industry/academic research projects - Contribute to future 3GPP RAN work items on technology.

Education & Experience

Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent

Additional Requirements

  • This role may require occasional international travel/transatlantic travel.
