The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC), the regional planning agency for the seven county greater Milwaukee area, has an immediate opening for a senior civil engineer with an interest in transportation and traffic engineering and planning. The Commission also is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for the five urbanized areas within southeastern Wisconsin. The Commission is responsible for the preparation of a long-range land use and transportation plan and a short-range transportation improvement program. The Commission staff is also frequently called upon to supplement local planning and staffs in the conduct of small feasibility and engineering studies.

Responsibilities include the preparation of traffic analyses, and transportation plans, supervision of junior staff, and assistance to local units of government in the areas of traffic impact and transportation planning studies.

The Commission is looking for a highly motivated individual interested in joining a diverse team of planners and engineers focused on ensuring that the Region is prepared to compete on a national and global scale economically while improving the quality of life for the Region’s residents. A minimum of 5 years of experience is required for the position along with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with an emphasis in transportation and/or traffic engineering, and the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. A master’s degree and experience with transportation planning, traffic analysis software, such as Highway Capacity Software, CAD, Cube, and GIS is desirable. Salary range is $50,00 to $75,000 depending upon education, experience, and placement with the organizational structure. Salary outside the range may be considered for highly qualified applicants.
