The AppleCare Service Documentation team is searching for a hardworking Technical Writer to build service guides covering troubleshooting, take-apart procedures, diagnostic tools, and related content for all Apple hardware products. This documentation is used by technicians worldwide to help millions of Apple customers.

Key Qualifications

  • Technical content development experience with a Fortune 500 consumer products company
  • Proven ability to write documentation that is clear, concise, consistent, and accurate
  • Proven ability to research technical topics and convey technical information to readers of varying skill and experience
  • Ability to build good working relationships with an established team of writers and our cross-functional partners
  • Proficiency in English grammar and writing
  • Experience writing to style guides (e.g., The Chicago Manual of Style)
  • Quick learner

  • Attention to detail and interpersonal skills
  • Expert use of content management systems, digital asset management, word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Advanced proficiency with consumer electronics hardware and software (Apple product knowledge a plus)


The successful candidate will work closely with service readiness engineers, media production specialists, and instructional designers to create elite service content and communication assets. Responsible for the timely collection of documentation requirements and the creation of accurate troubleshooting and take apart procedures, the person in this role creates engaging technical content while ensuring continuity of tone and nomenclature across many service content assets. Comfortable working alone or in team contexts, the person in this role partners with engineers, photographers, graphic designers, and editors throughout the content creation cycle. Well-versed in technical documentation tools and practices, as well as content management workflows, the person in this role uses experience and good judgment to continuously drive documentation and process improvement across multiple simultaneous projects and systems. Responsibilities: - Author clear and concise service guides and other technical service content. - Adapt tone and nomenclature of content to the needs of the intended audience. - Participate in relevant Product Readiness core team meetings throughout the product development lifecycle. - Prioritize tasks and deadlines in a highly dynamic environment. - Collaborate with cross-functional team members in Service Training and Media Production to produce innovative service content solutions. - Partner with subject matter experts, engineers, and instructional designers to ensure robust content designs. - Continuously refine content authoring processes for greater efficacy. - Contribute to system requirements and infrastructure projects.

Education & Experience

Bachelors degree in Technical Writing, Journalism, English, or a related field, or equivalent experience
