The City of Brooklyn, Ohio, Civil Service Commission will hold a written examination to establish an eligibility list for the position of Entry-Level Police Patrol Officer on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 6:30 PM at Brooklyn Community/Senior Center, 7727 Memphis Ave., Brooklyn, Ohio. Applications are available at Brooklyn City Hall, 7619 Memphis Ave. – Wed., April 7 through Fri., July 30 (excluding holidays) from 8 AM until 4 PM and at the Police Lobby window from 4pm-8pm. They are also available on the city website (www.brooklynohio.gov). Completed and signed applications and any attachments must be returned to Brooklyn City Hall or emailed to email@example.com - Wed., April 7 through Fri., July 30 (excluding holidays) from 8 AM until 4 PM or at the Police Lobby window. There is no fee for the written examination.
Must be at least 21 and no more than 35 years of age at the time of appointment (copy of birth certificate with application); possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License; required to have a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED; must provide copy of diploma from highest level of education attained; must be a U.S. citizen or have legally declared the intention of becoming a U.S. citizen; must provide proof of successful completion of the Tri-C Physical Agility Test before appointment.
Extra Credit: Associates Degree - 3%, Bachelors Degree - 5% (credit only given for highest degree attained), OPOTA – 10%, Veterans – 15%. Veterans must verify military service by presenting Dept. of Defense Form-DD214 and proof of honorable discharge. Veterans who served more than 180 days active duty other than for training purposes and have been honorably discharged will be eligible for the credit. Extra credit will only be added to those who receive a score of 70% or higher on the written exam and all percentages are of the passing grade. Maximum extra credit allowed is 20%.
Any candidate for a position in the classified service shall be disqualified for falsifying information or fraudulent conduct of any kind in connection with a Civil Service Examination.
