BRIDGE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER – 0 TO 5 YEARS

Oates Associates is continuing to grow! We are seeking an entry to mid-level structural engineer to work in our Bridge Group.  This position is ideal for someone that enjoys working on a team and working with clients on transportation related projects ranging from $10k to $20-M. Work will be out of our Collinsville, IL office. Competitive salaries are offered commensurate to experience.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s in civil engineering with an emphasis in structures;
  • EIT certificate or recently received PE license;
  • 0 – 5+ years structural engineering experience;
  • MicroStation / AutoCAD is a plus
  • Work with both governmental and private clients in Missouri and Illinois;
  • Strong technical skills – writing and organization skills.
  • Desire and focus on technical skills in one or more of the following areas:
    • Bridge design
    • Hydrology and drainage design.
    • Highway design / planning

 

 

BUILDING STRUCTURAL ENGINEER – 2 TO 5 YEARS

 

Oates Associates is continuing to grow! We are seeking a project engineer to work in our Facilities Group.  This position is ideal for an entry-level civil engineer that enjoys working on a team and working with clients on building and site development, drainage, utility, and campus development projects ranging from $10k to $20-M. Work will be out of our St. Louis, MO office. Competitive salaries are offered commensurate to experience.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering;
  • EIT certificate or recently received PE license;
  • 0 – 5+ years structural engineering experience;
  • Work with both governmental and private clients in Missouri and Illinois;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit – proficiency;
  • Working knowledge of RISA and RAM Structural – a plus;
  • Strong technical skills – writing and organization skills.

 

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Laying out buildings and structures in AutoCAD and Revit;
  • Designing to building Codes – IBC, ASCE, ACI, and AISC;
  • Performing site visits to inspect existing structures and writing inspection reports;
  • Performing site visits to document conditions and design repairs;
  • Developing construction documents and cost estimates;
  • Observing construction operations at work sites and reviewing material submittals.

 

SURVEY TECHNICIAN

Oates Associates is continuing to grow!  We are seeking a survey technician. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys workings outside, working with others, and operating technical instruments and equipment for a wide and diverse range of projects.  Additionally, you may be asked to work on construction observation projects and GIS data collection. Work will be out of our Collinsville, IL office, with projects throughout the St. Louis Metropolitan area.  Competitive salaries are offered commensurate to experience.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

 

  • Minimum of a High School diploma and valid driver’s license.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Survey Technician is preferred, however less experience will be considered.
  • Strong math and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Willingness to learn, reliable and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather, lift heavy loads, and walk/stand for an entire day.
  • Experience using GPS, total stations, and data collectors a plus
  • Must be able to pass a background test to obtain security badge clearance.

 

TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER – ENTRY LEVEL TO 5+ YEARS 

Since Oates Associates opened our doors in 1980 in the Midwest, we have worked with public and private clients on transportation projects that shape our daily movements, building projects that help create economic growth and site and recreational projects that enhance our community.  During this time, we have expanded to include four offices to help serve our clients with their transportation and facility needs.  To accommodate the continued growth in our transportation department, we are seeking a motivated and energetic individual for an entry level or project engineer position.  Work will be out of our Collinsville, IL and St. Louis, MO offices.  

 

The ideal candidate will also possess the following attributes:

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering
  • EIT certificate or recently received PE license
  • 0 – 5+ years transportation engineering experience
  • Experience working with State, County and Local agencies in Missouri and Illinois is a plus
  • Experience with MicroStation and Geopak is a plus
  • Strong technical, communication and presentation skills

 

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing base maps from topographic surveys
  • Roadway planning, layout and design
  • Storm water design associated with the roadway improvements
  • Intersection geometric design and traffic studies
  • ADA assessments and design
  • Developing roadway plans and construction documents using MicroStation
  • Developing construction cost estimates
