University Communications. The UI/UX Designer/Developer is a part of an agile development team responsible for designing, building and maintaining CMU’s internal and external web presence. The UI/UX Designer/Developer assists in the design and implementation of user facing systems providing value to CMU’s students, staff and faculty. Additionally, this role is responsible for working with University Communications (UCOMM) to ensure CMU brand alignment. The incumbent will help create a cohesive user experience and works closely with a team lead to implement technology and experiences assisting with the academic mission of Central Michigan University.

 

Required qualifications include UI/UX Designer/Developer I:

Associates degree or equivalent experience in graphic design or a related field.

Design or web design experience.

Current knowledge of industry software and design techniques.

Demonstrated design, UI or UX skills.

Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript.

Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with stakeholders.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

UI/UX Designer/Developer II:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in graphic design or a related field.

Two years of web design experience.

Current knowledge of industry software and design techniques.

Demonstrated design, UI and UX skills

Experience with HTML/CSS.

Experience with front-end frameworks like Bootstrap, Modernizer, etc.

Familiarity with Material Design.

Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with stakeholders.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Desired  Qualifications include 

UI/UX Designer/Developer I:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in graphic design or a related field.

One year of design or web design experience.

Familiarity with WCAG 2.X and Section 508 Accessibility Compliance.

Experience with HTML/CSS.

Experience with front-end frameworks like Bootstrap, Modernizer, etc.

Experience with CSS extensions like LESS or Sass.

Familiarity with Agile development techniques.

 

UI/UX Designer/Developer II:

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in graphic design or a related field.

Three years of web design experience.

Experience working on structured project teams.

Familiarity with WCAG 2.X and Section 508 Accessibility Compliance.

Experience with CSS extensions like LESS or Sass.

Familiarity with Agile development techniques.

 

Weekly Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm; Some Nights and Weekends as Required

Pay Range: $45,000 - $70,000
