PRE PRESS TECHNICIAN

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will work under the direction
of the Press Manager. The employee will receive electronic files from clients;
import, impose, trouble shoot, rip, image printing plates, punch and bend. Occasional
work in the Bindery.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in the operation of the following
programs: Adobe InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Must have good vision and be able to
distinguish color. Some lifting required periodically (40 - 50 lbs).
Must be able to work independently and
efficiently in a fast-paced pre-press environment. Good customer service skills
WORKING CONDITIONS/POTENTIAL HAZARDS
Subject to the normal hazards of working
around moving production equipment and may be exposed to chemicals used in printing.
With proper pre-press maintenance we will be able to achieve the quality and efficiency necessary for The Gleaner to be successful. The pre-press technician is required to perform pre-press maintenance and work with other employees on maintenance as directed by the general manager.
Management expectsthe pre-press technician to be completely aware of, and understand all safety procedures and precautions, for all areas of production.
Management expects the pre-press technician to be extremely mindful not to place themselves, other employees, or machinery at risk of injury or damage Any potential safety issues or concerns should be summarized in writing, signed by the supervisor and passed to the general manager.
Attendance and Punctuality
Management expects the pre-press technician to be ready to start work at his/her designated start time.
Due to commercial printing deadlines it is essential that pre-press employees are punctual.
