The beat will be a combination of county government and general assignmentbring your ideas about what you can add to the current mix. The successful candidate will be able to strike a balance between quick turn-around stories on the news of the day and watchdog and enterprise coverage thatshows readers how issues affect them. Source development is a critical skill, along with the ability to use public records and databases.

The ideal candidate will have:

A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related discipline

At least a year of journalism experience

The ability to meet short- and long-term deadlines and juggle multiple priorities

The ability to produce accurate and detailed content in a competitive environment

Expertise in major social media platforms
Excellent communication skills

A valid driver's license

Video and photography skills are a plus.

Bloomington, the home of Indiana University, is locatedin the rolling hills of Indiana about an hour south of Indianapolis.
