Position Summary:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville is looking for a dynamic individual with teaching experience in electrical engineering to fill a lecturer position (non-tenure track) with anticipated start date in fall 2021 or spring 2022. The incumbent will be passionate about teaching undergraduate engineering students. We are a strong, student-centered program located in Southwest Wisconsin that values hands-on undergraduate engineering education and strong teaching pedagogy. This is a full-time, 9-month basis, benefit-eligible position.


Teaching undergraduate electrical engineering courses with power systems emphasis.

Ability to engage modern pedagogy to teach undergraduate students through classroom and laboratory settings.

Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with colleagues to complete tasks and goals.

Participate in service and outreach activities.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  Required Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses (an instructor of -record supervising is acceptable) or at least two semesters as a -graduate teaching assistant for a lab, leading sections, OR two years’ industry related experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Preferred qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Background in power systems planning and operations.
  • Background/experience with solar systems design and operations.
  • Full-time teaching experience.
  • Experience with on-line and alternative delivery methods in education.
  • Industry experience.

Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of the largest of UW-Platteville’s ABET-accredited programs, with 12 faculty and staff, serving approximately 400 majors, and graduating approximately 50 students per year. The main program is housed on the UW-Platteville campus with an additional site at the UW-Oshkosh branch campus, UW-Fox Valley.

The department has active student chapters of IEEE, HKN, and Wisconsin Association of Energy Engineers (WAEE). The faculty research areas in the department includes AI, advanced machine learning, neural networks, speech recognition, IOT, biofuels, and microgrids.
