Public Relations and Communications Associate
The PR & Corporate Communications team is responsible for all internal and external communications efforts at Gannett. While Gannett has been a media leader for over 100 years, we are undergoing a significant transformation from being a predominantly print newspaper company to one that is subscription-led and digitally focused. This team will sit at the center of developing and sharing Gannetts story.
The PR & Corporate Communications Associate will be responsible for supporting PR and corporate communications initiatives at Gannett and its more than 250 local media properties across the U.S. Reporting to the Sr. PR & Corporate Communications Manager, the role will also collaborate with teams in marketing, including internal communications and people teams, and across the organization to further brand awareness in key media outlets and elevate efforts that align with the companys broader goals. The role will assist the PR team with reporting, monitoring, and organizational needs and help with social media responsibilities, both for PR and employee amplification.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the corporate social media accounts, work with agency to develop social media strategy, provide social media reports related to specific social campaigns or topics to share with leadership, develop social content; work closely with marketing and HR colleagues to ensure alignment for broader corporate announcements.
Serve as digital designer for the team and support the planning and development of PR presentations and related projects.
Maintain organized and updated press resources, including fact sheets, bios, headshots, press releases and other relevant communications
Assist in developing press lists and media target databases
Participate in content creation, including PR blog posts, award submissions and briefing docs
Track PR efforts, media coverage and metrics against teams goals on various media platforms
Create daily to weekly news round-up to leaders across the company to inform of top industry news and company coverage
Create reports to reflect ROI on specific communications initiatives, as well as monthly executive summary highlighting teams PR efforts for leadership
Manage upkeep of team calendar and organized shared folders of team materials
Monitor PR inboxes and help manage incoming media inquiries, ensuring proper distribution to recipients across the company
Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field with equivalent work and/or internship experience
Strong written and verbal communications skills, including excellent copy editing
Strong project management and organization skills including presentation development using powerpoint and other related products.
Social media fluency or strong experience creating content for social amplification
Passion for news and knowledge of the media industry
