Job Function     

An opportunity to join the Health Science Technology Department Health Information Technology Program of a premier community college.

 

Job Responsibilities      

Primary responsibilities include working in collaboration with the Program Coordinators in area of teaching and curriculum development/revision: propose and create new courses; refine and modify existing courses; assist in course assessment of student academic achievement; practicum placements; participating on college/program meetings/committees. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Health Information Technology courses. Your letter of application should state specifically how you meet or how your background and experience relate to the qualifications. Include a separate statement (no more than two pages) of your various pedagogical approaches to teaching.

 

Education           

A bachelor’s degree preferred. Transcripts must be submitted with your application. Copies are acceptable for use during the screening process. If you are selected for an interview, official transcripts must be provided.

 

Preliminary Qualifications          

Three years of experience in professional preparation, experience, and competence in assigned teaching areas. Three years of experience with CPT/HCPC coding. Certification as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).

 

Academic Preparedness:

A comprehensive, current knowledge of electronic medical record and learning management systems, providing a foundation for effective teaching and learning must be demonstrated. Evidence for this beyond the degree would include participation in professional associations,

Experiential Background:

Experience in curriculum development, and in both acute care and ambulatory care settings is helpful. Knowledge of accreditation process is desirable.

If invited for an interview you will be expected to make a mini-classroom presentation for the selection committee and to provide handouts for the session to demonstrate professional teaching and communication skills. Use of technology and audiovisual aids encouraged.

Technology Proficiency:

Knowledge of computer supported, assisted or based instruction and the ability to integrate into instructional practice. Knowledge of on-line education is mandatory.*

 

Curriculum Development:

Knowledge of relevant curriculum development and demonstrated ability to design or revise curricula to maintain relevancy and meet changing needs.*

 

Assessment:

Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to assess learning outcomes.*

 

Community College Mission:

Knowledge of concepts and practices of academic governance, including employee involvement and individual accountability.*
