Jump on breaking news in paradise. A member of a four-person team covering Southwest Florida as part of the USA TODAY NETWORK means you are in the heat of battle covering hard-hitting news that make up this vibrant community that ranks high in happiness and sunshine. Youll also do deep dives for police, sheriff and fire and follow suspects through their court cases. Youll develop quick-turn enterprise stories covering public safety, crime and courts in Southwest Florida. A successful team member will cover breaking news with urgency across digital and traditional platforms, using social media and photos/videos from scenes. Flexibility is key in this job, which includes coverage of public safety agencies, but is more than just a cops beat. Reporter must have compassion and empathy to navigate an interview with someone who is dealing with tragedy and tell their story in a compelling way. Based in Naples, the ideal candidate should know how to write for digital and traditional audiences, work well with a team on projects and think quick on your feet. The ideal candidate is bilingual (conversational in Spanish).
