Waste Connections has a rare opportunity for a Benefits Manager at our corporate office in the Woodlands, Texas!

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and administer benefit programs, policies and procedures
  • Evaluate existing programs against peer organizations to determine competitiveness, trends and developments
  • Monitor and ensure programs meet employee needs and comply with legal requirements
  • Design, development and produce benefit communications
  • Manage team of 3-4 benefit specialists, providing coaching, training and guidance in their day to day activities and career development
  • Oversee various vendor relationships, such as 401k, healthcare, disability and co-sourcing partner.
  • Provide top tier customer service support to our field employees and leaders in addressing benefit questions and issues
  • Deliver benefit presentations to newly hired or acquired employees
  • Experience with merger and acquisition activity, including plan design comparisons, onboarding acquired employees, merging retirement plans and terminating health plans
  • Familiar with various audit activities from DOL inquiries to annual 401k audits
  • Familiar with 5500 preparation and filing
  • Experience administering non-qualified 409(A) plans
  • Familiar with Canadian extended health benefits and retirement plans

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years benefits administration experience
  • 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Plan design development and implementation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service
