Recruitment Summary
Dona Ana Community College (DACC) is a comprehensive, learning-centered community college dedicated to a diverse population of learners in support of student success, workforce and economic development and lifelong learning. Established in 1973 at the request of the Gadsden, Hatch and Las Cruces school boards, DACC continues to meet the educational needs of county residents by providing instruction leading to associate degrees and technical certificates as well as community and adult education opportunities. As the second largest community college in the state, DACC offers accessible and affordable higher education opportunities to more than 18,000 students annually with eight learning sites county-wide. As part of New Mexico State University, DACC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Journeyman level HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic/Technician. Repairs, maintains, inspects and installs HVAC Equipment and systems including small 2/3 ton Split systems, 4/5 ton Rooftop Package Systems and Central Chiller/Boiler systems with Building wide Air Handler units and individual room VAV controls. Performs other General Maintenance duties as assigned which may include minor Plumbing repairs and electrical/ Lighting systems maintenance.

Classification Summary
Installs and maintains the many mechanical, electrical and electronic components, such as motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats and switches that are part of heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. Maintains, diagnoses, and corrects problems throughout the entire system using special tools and test equipment.

Classification Standard Duties
Performs troubleshooting and repair of building distribution systems including low pressure steam distribution, heat exchangers, hot and cold deck systems, air handlers, and pneumatic and digital controls; Performs HVAC system inspections and manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance; Performs major component replacement work in conjunction with central energy management and control system operators; Performs seasonal overhauls and instructs repair teams in transition of systems from heating to cooling and vice versa; Monitors and adjusts system set points and output using remote computer links to the buildings programmable logic controls; Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices; Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge
Knowledge of HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance; Knowledge of refrigerant recovery; Working knowledge of HVAC and associated systems employing computer-based monitoring and control devices; Knowledge of mechanical equipment, plumbing, utilities, distribution systems, and controls, including maintenance and troubleshooting.

Skills
Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Abilities
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade; Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines; Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures; Ability to repair and/or replace building mechanical systems components, including programmable logic controls; Ability to use computer-based monitoring and control devices in maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC systems.

Required Education
High School diploma or GED certificate.

Preferred Qualifications
2 years experience

Required Certification/License
Possession of a valid unrestricted drivers license is a requirement for this job.

Must possess a New Mexico Journeymans Refrigeration License.

Must possess an EPA Universal Refrigerant Handler Card.

Other Departmental Requirements
