Description

Responsible for conducting classroom observations and providing coaching to teachers at early childhood programs in Orange, Osceola, Seminole and surrounding counties. Conduct observations of curricula implementation and CLASS® observations; attend trainings and meetings; and submit coaching logs and observation data within required data systems. Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or related field; CLASS® certifications in infant, toddler, and preschool tools; and five years of experience working in an early learning environment required. Coaching experience preferred.

Job Description

Job Functions:

The primary responsibilities of the Quality Improvement Specialist are to conduct classroom observations and provide coaching (virtual and face-to-face) to teachers at designated early childhood programs in Orange, Osceola, Seminole and surrounding counties. Observations of curricula implementation and CLASS® observations are required of the position. Must attend required trainings and project meetings and submit coaching logs and observation data within required data systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Experience in working in a collaborative environment both independently and as part of team.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate classroom and teacher practices.
  • Strong organizational skills including time management, maintaining records, attention to detail, and submitting documents on time in the approved data system.
  • Ability to manage diverse opinions/perspectives in a professional, courteous, and timely manner using relationship-building interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and across multiple teams in a complex project.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer software and be able to hold virtual meetings independently using various platforms.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Participates in required virtual training on one of two assigned curriculum and on coaching teachers, as well as regular meetings with trainers, other coaches, team research staff, and center staff.
  • Along with assigned teachers, attend teacher trainings on the assigned curricular model in virtual and face-to-face settings.
  • Work with and travel to assigned child care centers and conduct virtual and in-person coaching sessions in the use of the assigned curriculum, using practice-based coaching techniques, including observations of the classroom, providing teachers with constructive feedback, and the opportunity to discuss curriculum implementation and associated classroom issues.
  • Complete and submit regular online data entry system coaching logs and complete fidelity observations at up to three time points.
  • Contact, schedule, and complete CLASS®observations and/or coaching at child care programs and submit reports following Florida Division of Early Learning rules.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in early childhood education, child development, or related field; at least five years of work experience in an early learning environment; and valid certifications in the CLASS® infant, toddler, and preschool tools.
