The York Daily Record needs an insightful self-starter to guide our community through the changes coming for education and health care in a post-pandemic world.
This Regional Watchdog Reporter will write quick hits and deep dives to illustrate and explain the causes, effects, solutions, and hurdles regarding these important issues.
You will focus particularly on regional health and education issues. On health, well look at topics such as Covid, vaccines, addiction, mental health, disparity of accessibility to care, care for the elderly, suicide, pre- and post-natal issues, abortion, etc. On education, well tackle re-opening post-pandemic, funding disparities, taxes, college loans, diversity, preparing the next workforce, cyber school, accessibility to education, the intersections of politics, race, and education, etc.
Working closely with USA TODAY and The USAT NETWORK, this reporter will respond quickly to trending topics of national concern. You will work with editors across our group, crafting coverage that speaks to readers in each of our markets. You will be part of a breaking news team that responds to major events across the state.
We will use new storytelling and social media approaches to capture new audiences. You will work closely with analytics experts to better understand who your audience is, what they need from you, and how effective you are at reaching them. You will grow your audience by adjusting your coverage and approach based on such research.
