Primary Purpose


The Instructional Coach will serve as the education & curriculum expert in an assigned center(s) and
age group (s). This role ensures evidence-based teaching practices and Bright Horizons curricular
expectations are met and teachers have the resources, support, and professional development
needed to succeed. The Coach is expected to have high level knowledge of child development, early
education, and BH curriculum and education philosophies, positions, and requirements. The Coach
will use tools like internal quality measurement, NAEYC accreditation, curriculum guides, and our child assessment platform to assess and measure quality implementation. The Coach will also be
responsible for effective, timely, and complete adoption of education initiatives. The Coach will
intentionally employ teacher development strategies to include direct instruction, modeling, teacher
observation and feedback, mentoring, and coaching. The role may include some supervision.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Leads center(s) in implementing high quality and developmentally appropriate programs.

  • Ensures implementation of Bright Horizons philosophy and foundational beliefs in all educational

  • practices e.g. curriculum, inclusive and anti-bias education, and instructional practices.

  • Supports roll out of Education and Development initiatives in center(s).

  • Maintains expertise in age group development and Bright Horizons curriculum and expected

  • educational practices.

  • Uses education quality tools (e.g., World Quality Expectations, QRIS, NAEYC), to assess program and

  • curriculum implementation and develop plan of action for improvement.

  • Provides resources, support, guidance, performance coaching, modeling, training, and on-site

  • observation and feedback to teachers in center(s).

  • Supports teachers in center(s) with the use of Bright Horizons’ planning and child assessment tools.

  • Supports implementation of The Pyramid Model and identifies interventions for behavior

  • challenges.

  • Directs and mentors center Lead Teachers.

  • Uses Education and Development materials to coordinate and facilitate professional development

  • and training events (e.g., Professional Development Days, staff meetings).

  • Partners and communicates effectively with families.

  • Supports or leads parent/family meetings.

  • Serves in a supervisory capacity for assigned positions, including interviewing, hiring, annual

  • performance reviews, and overall performance management.

  • Stay abreast of research and best practice.

  • Support NAEYC accreditation and/or state QRIS.
