The Siletz Tribal Head Start Program provides a developmentally appropriate and Native American culturally relevant preschool experience which promotes school readiness skills for children who are 3 and 4 years of age. The program provides comprehensive services to children to ensure they are up-to-date on all well child care and to promote their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. The Head Start Program offers families the support they need to connect with community resources to further their personal growth and to support them in their role as their child’s first and most important teacher.
High School diploma or GED and Food Handler’s permit. Knowledge of: Following safe food handling practices, following routines for set-up and clean-up, maintaining complete and accurate records, and ability to complete duties in a timely manner. Ability to: Work around 20 young children and relate to them in a positive manner. Learn food service procedures and safety practices. Maintain accurate food service records. Follow direction from teachers. Other: Obtain First Aid/CPR within first 30-days of hire. Must be dependable, punctual, and a self-starter. Must follow Head Start Performance Standards.
Accept daily delivery of foods from vendors. Set-up and serve prepared foods for up to two Head Start classes following established procedures and in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements. May be required to purchase food service supplies. Maintains complete and accurate records to document food service activities and to show compliance with all recordkeeping requirements. Records food items, amounts received, and temperatures of food upon delivery, and then will ensure foods are maintained at safe temperatures until serving. Responsible for keeping complete and accurate records of meal counts and menus. Responsible for the set-up and clean-up of service area for breakfast, lunch and snack, and to ensure that at all times the eating area and kitchen area are kept clean and sanitary. This includes washing dishes. To support the delivery of family-style meal service for the classroom and this could include eating with the children. To assist with classroom nutrition activities, which could entail developing and carrying out such activities? Provides coverage in the classroom and on the playground to assist with staff breaks. Other duties as assigned.
All new employees will serve a six-month probationary period to enable the General Manger to determine their suitability as a tribal employee. After the six-month probation the employee will be evaluated of his/her performance and at that time, it will be, decided if the employee is entitled to a regular employee status.
