The Leesburg Daily Commercial is seeking a reporter to cover schools and local government in our rapidly growing area of Central Florida. The successful candidate will be comfortable developing articles and other news content across digital and print publication platforms, producing daily breaking news and enterprise work, along with in-depth reports in key topics.
Our staff is a mix of veteran and newly minted journalists who collaborate within our local team, and also across Gannett's network of newsrooms in Florida and across the United States. Our award-winning work is rapidly gaining digital subscribers as we continue to serve a dedicated core of print readers.
Lake and Sumter counties, our primary coverage area, has an eclectic mix of small towns, several of them set alongside scenic lakes. We are a short drive to Orlando and both coasts, and adjacent to The Villages, the fast-growing community in the United States. It is a region rich with natural beauty and lively culture.
