Unit Description

Sodexo is looking for a General Manager 4 - Food in Somerset, PA

UPMC Somerset Hospital is a non-profit, general acute care community hospital that is located at 225 South Center Avenue Somerset, Pennsylvania 15501. This hospital has 111 licensed beds, making it the largest hospital in Somerset County.

Sodexo is seeking a qualified General Manager to oversee the food production, food delivery service for the patients, staff, and visitors as well as provide oversight for the Clinical Nutrition Department. The General Manager must have proficient skills in communications, employee interpersonal relations, understanding service excellence, food production and quality controls, Food and Physical Safety, general Nutrition, and HACCP standards. Serv Safe Certification required.

Responsibilities will include:

  • working with unit financial/budgets
  • strategic planning
  • HR functions
  • training and development of both a management and hourly staff
  • ensuring HACCP compliance
  • direct client interaction and supervision of 2 Sodexo managers and 25 non-union hourly associates.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years lead food management experience in a health-care environment, a solid financial acumen, the ability to develop and engage both a management and hourly staff, a strong working knowledge of food operations in a health-care setting as well as excellent communication, leadership and customer service skills. Prior experience managing a union workforce would be a plus.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.
Provides local leadership and strategic direction while developing team for new and emerging business solutions that sustain growth in the day to day operations.
