Under the direction of the Budget Director, this position supports budgeting and financial activities ensuring accuracy of financial, accounting and budgeting processes and compliance with institutional standards, practices, policies and procedures for the College’s division of Student Affairs.
The position assists the Budget Director, Assistant VP of Budget Services and Financial Planning, and the VP for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management with on-going financial analysis and other duties and projects, as needed.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
With limited supervision, interfaces closely with the VP of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management and other student affairs division personnel, including athletics, to monitor budgeting processes that occur in department and division offices including: processing requests for new budget authorizations, position control, budget set ups, budget transfers, oversees, organizes and compiles information for the Informed Budget Process in Student Affairs, and preparing appropriate journal entries.
With limited supervision of the Budget Director, and in consultation with the VP of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, research, verify, and resolve budget discrepancies and funding issues to increase efficiency and accuracy of the College’s budgetary processes; maintain budgetary and financial histories; conduct statistical analysis, including cost studies, program budget reviews, and enrollment target analysis; and prepare ad hoc budget reports as requested.
Effectively communicate and work with College departments, Budget Center Managers, and their administrative assistants; serve as a non-voting member of the Student Fee Board and prepare documents and financial reports, as needed; provide general budget assistance to promote and develop a fundamental understanding of the College’s financial system, budget guidelines, goals and expectations.
Work with assigned functional areas to create new budget indices; establish and set up initial budgets; prepare budget transfers; monitor and track revenue and expenditure budgets to ensure compliance with both internal and external budget policies, procedures, guidelines and other budget directives.
Keep the Budget Director and VP of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management informed on budgetary issues, concerns, problems and analysis being conducted.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued
Higher education and/or local/state government budget experience.
MBA or MPA degree.
At least one (1) year direct, full-time, paid work experience.
Bachelors degree in business, finance or related field.
0-3 years’ direct, full-time, paid work experience.
Trade offs in education and experience may be considered on a two-to-one basis.
Part-time experience may be considered on a prorated basis.
