The firm’s two estate planning attorneys, both of whom manage the firm’s collections of accounts receivable, seek a legal assistant to assist them in those areas.

Candidates should have a basic understanding of wills and trusts and working knowledge of the probate process. In the area of collections, a candidate should have the ability to monitor and assist in the collection of the accounts receivable of some 15-20 attorneys. Candidates should be familiar with basic collections tools, i.e., promissory notes, trust deeds, attorney’s liens, basic collection pleadings, garnishment, judgments, execution

  • Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. , Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Primary work tasks include:

  • Assist attorneys with will and trust drafting
  • Gather information from clients to prepare basic estate documents
  • Coordinate filings with the probate court in multiple Oregon counties
  • Draft correspondence and assist with telephone, e-mail and fax communications
  • Coordinate attorneys’ calendars for appointments and court appearances
  • Liaise with other legal assistants to schedule and conduct regular attorney meetings on accounts receivable
  • Maintain record of collections activity based on firm standard operating procedures (already developed)
  • Communicate with clients with delinquent bills in a business-like but non-threatening manner
  • Provide general administrative support services to attorneys as needed

Qualifications: Our ideal candidate has the following skill sets:

  • Legal assistant certificate 3 years experience with estate planning
  • Ability to work as a team with other firm members
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate with clients either by telephone or email
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Pay: $2,800.00 - $3,600.00 per month
