The Component Engineer (CE) will have the responsibility for maintaining the electronic and electromechanical component ownership for various hardware designs and thus be responsible for identifying, qualifying, detailing and releasing components which meet regulatory standards for those applicable electronic/electromechanical component commodities included in Apple products.
- Candidates must have 3+ years of relevant (Computer Engineering) experience plus:
- Must have good interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be capable of coordinating cross functionally with groups such as Industrial Design, Electrical, and Mechanical Design Engineering, Reliability, Regulatory Engineering, GSM (Global Supply Based Managers), Manufacturing Engineering, and Contract Manufacturer organizations to problem tackle pertaining to component selection and use.
CEs conduct commodity research which includes development of commodity roadmaps, driving the component selection/development process as the domain professional, management of the component documentation/qualification plans and schedules for both primary as well as secondary component sources, advising and coordinating Apple component supplier technical development activities and management of Process Change Notice (PCN) procedures for all responsible components. CEs support component quality and thus support Operations Quality organizations with regard to component quality development, maintenance, as well as failure analysis and resolution activities. CEs handle Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) and Product Data Management (PDM) systems for applicable component responsibilities. CEs must be capable of moving in a fast paced product development environment and a self starter.
Education & Experience
Bachelors or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent training and experience.
