This position supports a group of Materials and Process Engineers in the testing, failure analysis and characterization of alloys. Responsibilities will include analysis and evaluation of failed specimens & parts, and general materials property measurement & characterization. The candidate will be responsible for specimen preparation, testing, characterization (SEM, EDS, EBSD, etc.) and the analysis and reporting of results. This position will require a high level of autonomy and effective communication as well as the management of multiple projects in parallel.

Key Qualifications

  • A minimum of B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing and Materials, or related field is required
  • Metallographic preparation (sectioning, mounting, polishing)
  • Proficient in common alloy characterization methods (e.g. SEM, EDS, EBSD)
  • Failure and root cause analysis of mechanical and processing related defects
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a fast-paced environment
  • Nice to haves:
  • Experience with magnesium is highly desirable
  • Casting failure and defect analysis experience

Description

This position supports a group of Materials and Process Engineers in the characterization, analysis, and process development of alloys. Responsibilities will include mechanical testing, sample analysis, facilities upkeep, laboratory equipment maintenance, coordination with vendors, metallographic sample preparation and thermal or chemical processing of alloys. The successful candidate must possess the ability to quickly learn new systems and process and problem solve independently. In this position you will be responsible for supporting a spectrum of laboratory and characterization activities.

A minimum of B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing and Materials, or related field is required
