The Apple Wallets, Payments, and Commerce (WPC) team is looking for a Business Development Manager to work with channel partners to drive adoption of Apple Pay's solution for loyalty and gift cards in Wallet. As our ideal candidate, you are dynamic, results oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment. In this role you will focus on managing partnerships with loyalty and gift card companies, as well as leaders in the point-of-sale and terminal space. In some instances you will also engage with business and technical leads at the merchant. We want you to lead end to end business development execution, including identifying and screening of strategic partners, negotiating/closing commercial agreements, and developing successful go-to-market programs. As new opportunities arise, you will be asked to spot them, understand how they can benefit your engagements with your partners, and seamlessly integrate them. As a successful candidate, you are an ambitious and driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You love sophisticated problems and asking "what if?" to find creative solutions. You can balance the needs of multiple teams and maintain a strong sense of empathy for your partners, both internal and external. Candidates should have a consistent track record of building and sustaining strong, successful relationships with loyalty, gift, terminal, and POS companies, as well as with internal colleagues and teams. Applicable experience developing, managing, and growing relationships in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment is vital. Lastly, candidates should have experience in or a strong desire to learn about financial services and Apple technologies. This is a full-time position in our Cupertino, CA headquarter location, with the option to be located in our New York City or Austin, TX locations.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience working with or at a loyalty program provider, gift card issuer, POS or terminal OEM, or leading a tier-1 merchant loyalty program.
  • An expanded skill set across various roles including sales, business development, pipeline management, account management, account growth, project management, and marketing/activation management.
  • Deep experience negotiating business and technical terms across multiple internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrate and develop collaborative and impactful relationships with a diverse portfolio of ecosystem providers to drive broad adoption of Apple Pay services and functionality.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to develop strong senior and executive level working relationships inside and outside of Apple.
  • Strong ability to influence without authority, sell concepts internally and actively drive streamlined decision making across partners.
  • Experience in handling sophisticated engagements with multiple partners across multiple verticals.
  • Skilled at helping partners identify, navigate, and overcome technical or operational complexities to drive adoption of new technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze opportunities from many angles (both quantitative and qualitative) and drive appropriate performance tracking and analysis.

Description

Lead and partner with cross-functional teams (internal, external, and 3rd party) through all aspects of loyalty and gift projects and engagements. Participate internally on cross-functional teams to define partners, set engagement requirements, supervise progress on deliverables, and develop marketing/activation plans. Continually handle partnerships year over year, delivering new feature improvements and providing ongoing support to drive customer trial and usage. Provide regular communications to internal teams regarding partnership strategy and results. Travel is required.
