Job Description:

The purpose of the Spanish Engagement Admissions Counselor is to help lead the creation and expansion of Spanish language engagement initiatives for prospective students and families in the Office of Admissions. This position will also assist specialized targeted outreach and recruitment to historically underrepresented students, and assist in general access, inclusion, and equity initiatives in and out of the Office of Admissions. This position will reside within the Access and Inclusion team and all applicants should have a knowledge and commitment to an access, inclusion, equity, and anti-racist framework.

Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer. Will require some travel including nights, weekends, or holiday hours during peak periods.   • Work collaboratively with various admissions teams to ensure office wide Spanish engagement initiatives. Examples include assisting with Spanish language campus tours as needed, assisting regional recruitment centers with any Spanish language needs, etc. Be main point of contact for Marketing and Communications as it relates to Spanish admissions webpage updates and provide proofing and translation (as needed) for any Spanish language admissions publication needs.
  • Manage and coordinate Spanish 1-1 student/family appointments with various admissions staff members on CRM scheduler. Conduct bi-weekly Spanish general admissions information sessions and multiple Spanish 1-1 appointments each week
  • Be main point of contact in answering Spanish language general admissions questions through the general admissions inbox, phone support, and chat support. Collaborate with the Access & Inclusion Program Coordinator on engaging Spanish speaking Texas Student Recruiters for student led call projects and events
  • Work with programming specialist and events coordinator in the creation of any Spanish language recruitment/yield events including Longhorn Conexiones parent sessions, Spanish language Admitted Student Dinners, Spanish language bus trips and any other opportunities. Collaborate with admissions team members on all specialized recruitment events and outreach.
  • Assist with all general admissions information sessions and general admissions questions through admissions inbox, phone support, and chat support. Attend all admissions recruitment and yield events (in and outside of Austin) and interact with prospective and admitted students and families.
  • Assist with holistic file review annually. Project a positive image of UT by observing proper personal decorum during all contact with prospective and admitted students, their families, and high school officials. Use technology with ease and bring creativity and passion to their work.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and minimum of two years of experience with admissions, recruiting, and/or working with high school students. Fluent in Spanish, both verbal and written. Experience with presenting in Spanish. Knowledge and commitment to an access, inclusion, equity, and anti-racist framework. Experience with and comfortability engaging with Black/African American, Latinx, and other students and families from diverse backgrounds. Ability to assess the needs and interests of persons from diverse social, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds in terms of admissions recruitment. Self-motivated, with a systematic and extremely prepared work style, and the ability to meet deadlines. Demonstrated professional flexibility, ability and willingness to take on responsibilities. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally both in English and Spanish. Experience speaking with small and large audiences both in English and Spanish. Ability to work flexible hours including nights and/or weekends during peak periods.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

A combination of four years of experience coordinating, managing, or administering a program in higher education. Experience in translating documents in Spanish. Experience in a university admissions office. Experience with data and reporting. Experience with event planning. Prior participation in culturally-based organizations and initiatives on a college campus. Demonstrated experience, education and/or research on diverse and inclusive admissions recruitment and retention practices. Experience with a customer relationship management (CRM) system, preferably Technolutions Slate.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$40,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:
