Key Qualifications

  • 2+ years work experience in thin film coatings (design, validation, production) and wet coatings (inks, photoresists...).
  • Deep technical knowledge of thin film growth fundamentals, as well as pigments, dyes, resins, and other wet coating precursor materials.
  • Technical knowledge of various application and deposition technologies (screen printing, inkjet printing, evaporation, sputtering, PECVD...).
  • Experience with thin film failure analysis, reliability testing standards, and new test development.
  • Familiarity with basic analysis methods (Spectrophotometer, FTIR, SEM, XPS, etc).
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques.
  • Technical project management experience leading a project from R&D to production.
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environment.
  • Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with optical design, optical and color evaluation, and products with customer-facing cosmetic applications.
  • Experience with coating compatibility on 3d shapes.
  • Experience working on multiple products/coatings on different development timelines.
  • Experience with coating systems specifically designed for glass and plastics.
  • Experience with high-quality cosmetic parts and finishes in high volume.
  • Track record of material selection and development for products with demanding performance requirements.
  • This position will require international travel (20%+).


In this critical, highly visible role, you will handle projects involving the design, integration and launch of state of the art materials for world-renowned Apple products. You will play a key part in providing Apple customers with the best user-experience in the industry by driving the rapid advancement of coatings and coating processes for user-facing cosmetic design, next-generation sensors, and overall product function. The Materials Product Design team features a team environment with dynamic, smart people. Education & Experience

MS Chemical Engineering / Materials Science / Mechanical Engineering, PhD Preferred.
